Democrats Out-Raise Republicans by Historic Margin
Manchester - Manchester Democrats chair Chris Pappas issued the following statement in response to a press release issued by City Republican chair Will Infantine:
"I welcome the Manchester Republican committee's diligent research into the Democratic Party's superior fundraising prowess during the 2008 elections. In 2006, voters sent an unambiguous message that they believe that New Hampshire's future is more secure in the hands of leaders like John Lynch, Carol Shea Porter, Paul Hodes, and a state legislature controlled by Democrats. Republican griping about the party's ability to raise funds to wage successful campaigns is the very definition of sour grapes.
"The names and addresses of all of the party's contributors are matters of public record at the federal, state, and local level. Manchester Republicans are able to review Democratic campaign
contributions because the Democratic Party and its committees actually register and file reports with the Secretary of State as the law requires.
"Unfortunately, the Republicans are not disclosing all of their contributors and expenses. As was stated in the Union Leader today, John E. Sununu refuses to file reports for his committee in New
Hampshire. The NH Advantage Coalition, which the Manchester Republicans admit is a Republican organization run by Manchester Republican treasurer Tammy Simmons, refuses to register and file
reports with the Secretary of State.
"Even the Manchester City Republican Committee, the very group that is criticizing the Democratic Party, has only filed one report out of three due to the Secretary of State. It was filed 16 days late on
September 5 for the August 20 reporting deadline, according to the Secretary of State's website. The Manchester Democrats have reported every penny raised and spent.
"The Democratic Party believes in transparency and accountability in government and has been following election law on campaign receipts and expenditures. Why won't John E. Sununu, the New Hampshire
Advantage Coalition, and the Manchester Republicans join us? Who is supporting them? What are they hiding? Voters deserve an answer."

FRANK GUINTA USES TAXPAYER FUNDED WEBSITE FOR HIS OWN POLITICAL ADVANTAGE
Chris Pappas calls Mayor's actions shameful
Manchester - Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta has been very vocal in his support of the New Hampshire Advantage Coalition and has used little discretion as to the medium by which to deliver his message, posting on the taxpayer funded Manchester City Government website in the weeks since the Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted to postpone the referendum on the tax and spending cap proposed by the NH Advantage Coalition in order to give voters more time to consider the serious implications such a cap would have on city services such as public safety and education, as well as to consider the legality of the cap.
Guinta posted an editorial on September 4th titled "The Spending Cap: It Must be Placed Before Voters on Nov 4th." In an additional posting on September 15th reflecting on the September 5th Special Meeting, Guinta states:
"Unfortunately for voters in Manchester, the work of eight Aldermen and a host of special interests silenced our voices for another year."
"Frank Guinta needs to decide whether he wants to be a spokesman for the NH Advantage Coalition or Mayor of Manchester," said Manchester City Democrats Chair Chris Pappas. "He consistently used his position as Mayor to further his own political agenda, and is now using the city website, paid for by the taxpayers, to attack these hard-working Aldermen, who were merely looking out for the best interests of the people of Manchester. It is a shameful abuse of the office of the Mayor, to editorialize his own special interests on the city website."
Guinta's editorial blogs can be found at www.manchesternh.gov.

Chris Pappas Says Manchester Deserves Better Than Guinta's Lack of Leadership
Manchester - Below is a statement from Chris Pappas, chair of the Manchester City Democrats.
"Given his lack of leadership on fighting crime, it's interesting to hear Mayor Guinta criticize a Superior Court Judge for recognizing the problems plauging Manchester's neighborhoods," said Chris Pappas, chair of the Manchester City Democrats. "The sound from the Mayor's office has been deafening on the crime issue since his re-election, despite high-profile violence and new threats to public safety. Manchester residents deserve a leader who will aggressively address the crime issue year-round, not just during election season."

OVER FORTY MANCHESTER DEMOCRATS FILE FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE
Dedicated Incumbents and Eager New Candidates Sign Up to Serve Manchester
Manchester - More Democrats signed up to run for the legislature from Manchester
than at any point in the past decade, as enthusiasm about the 2008 elections and excitement over the progress being made in Concord drove them to seek election.

Manchester City Democrats Chair Chris Pappas issued the following statement:
"Each day of the filing period brought seasoned incumbents recommitting themselves to serve Manchester as well as incredible new candidates with deep roots in the community. Together, the Democratic slate has never been more dedicated to serving the community and making a difference for working families.
"Unlike the do-nothing Republicans, our candidates will work with Governor Lynch
to deliver results for the people of Manchester. They are committed to working hard to
continue the great progress that has been made in the past two years on health care, education, and the issues that matter to the middle class.
"I am thrilled at the energy our party is exhibiting at the grassroots level and am confident we will hold our overwhelming majority in the city's legislative delegation."

MANCHESTER REPUBLICANS OFFER POLITICAL GIMMICKS INSTEAD OF LEADERSHIP
Manchester – Manchester Democrats have fielded a full slate of legislative candidates who will work hard to continue the legacy of progress and fiscally responsible leadership that State House Democrats and Gov. Lynch have cultivated, while the Republican Party continues to offer only the same failed leadership of the past, based on tired policies and political gimmicks.
Below is a statement by Manchester City Democrats Chair Chris Pappas responding to the Manchester Republican candidates filing and 5-point pledge:
"This is getting ridiculous. The Republican Party has more pledges than Animal House. Our hard-working Democratic candidates only make one pledge, and it's not one designed to be a political gimmick. We pledge to work with Gov. Lynch to provide common sense leadership for Manchester. Period."
"I look forward to the filings of our seasoned incumbents and dedicated new candidates over the next week. They comprise one of the strongest and most enthusiastic Democratic slates in recent memory. Republicans may know how to make promises, but Democrats deliver results, and that's exactly what our candidates will do in when we claim victory in November."

Manchester Democrats Field Full Slate of Candidates
Manchester – Beginning today, nearly 40 dedicated Manchester Democrats will begin to declare their candidacies for one of Manchester's 35 state representative seats.
“This year’s candidates are among the most dedicated and hard working that Manchester Democrats have to offer,” said Chris Pappas, chair of the Manchester City Democrats. “Every candidate filing today is completely committed to continuing the progress made by Governor Lynch and the Democratic Majority in Concord, and fighting for the working families of Manchester.”
“The energy and enthusiasm of these candidates is unmatched, and with their hard work we will sustain our Democratic Majority of the Manchester Delegation, and will have victory in November,” continued Pappas.
